Man-in-the-Middle Attack [MITM]

« Back to Glossary Index

A MITM attack occurs when an attacker secretly intercepts and possibly alters communications between two parties who believe they are directly communicating.

Why it matters:

  • Allows attackers to steal credentials, financial data, or session cookies.
  • Common on unsecured public Wi-Fi networks.

Pro tip: Always use HTTPS, VPNs, and encrypted connections to prevent interception.
