A port is a logical channel that network services use to communicate. For example:

  • Port 80 – Standard web traffic (HTTP).
  • Port 443 – Secure web traffic (HTTPS).
  • Port 25 – Email (SMTP).

Why it matters:

  • Ports allow multiple services to run on the same device.
  • Firewalls use ports to block or allow specific types of traffic.

Pro tip: If an app can’t connect, make sure the required port is open.
